[ it isn't like there's a way to actually escape the village; they've all known that since they got here. still... for some reason, running away is the only thing xion can think to do. it's her default in situations where she can't fight back—escape the problem, deal with it later, just anything but facing it now.
where's cinnabar hiding today? because they suddenly have a very distraught girl in their vicinity, her frantic pace slowing until she comes to a complete stop. from there, she stands in place, body eerily still as her feelings boil up inside. ]
[ today... they're in the earth cave! They like being here. The other gems are quiet and far from whole, but they're still familiar - more familiar than the humans are, anyway. The sound of footsteps rushing in alerts Cinnabar, and sets them into a small panic, too; they run off to hide around a corner, hoping whoever this is just goes away after slowing down.
For now, they don't interfere. They just peer quietly around an outcrop of crystals, spying Xion and wondering what she's going to do. She's just standing there, so still... ]
[ well. her reason for stopping was to try and collect herself, but that doesn't last very long once she hears cinnabar's footsteps. she doesn't see them, but she's had enough recon experience to pick up on that, not to mention the uncanny feeling she gets of being watched.
while she's still very much on guard, she tries to make her body language as non-threatening as possible as she calls out, ]
Is... someone there? I'm sorry for bothering you, but I'm not going to hurt you...
[ Dammit. They should have known they'd get caught - their footfalls are so loud in a place like this. ]
I didn't think you were.
[ they probably should just run away and leave her alone, but that might cause some kind of troublesome misunderstanding; Cinnabar steps out from around the corner, maintaining a generous distance between themself and her. ]
[ it's just as well, because xion doesn't make any movements toward them, either. she's a little thankful for it, too; as much as she'd like to make friends, some of the overly happy people here have been... tiring. ]
I... needed to get away from the village for a bit. So I started running until my mind cleared up. I didn't think anyone else would be this way...
[ she ends it there a little lamely, but it's not like there's any use in lying. ]
[ huh, she hadn't been gendering them before, but it's hard not to follow suit after she's heard it from cinnabar. the brief flicker of surprise disappears just as soon as it had come up, her brow furrowing again. ]
He... kept avoiding my questions. And saying things like we're the ones responsible for figuring out what happened to Tsurumaru. We just kept yelling at each other, and... I just couldn't take it anymore.
I get it. They're really annoying, the way they do that. Both of them. They try to act like they're on our side, but they refuse to help us with anything, even when something like this happens... I hate it.
[ oh it absolutely will, just give her some time EVEN THOUGH SHE ACCIDENTALLY A BRAINCELL THIS TRIAL SOMEHOW I STILL DON'T KNOW HOW THAT HAPPENED ]
You were here first, but... thank you for that much. [ she bows her head, and looks like she's about ready to leave, but before she does, ] I'm Xion, by the way.
[ they don't really notice, honestly. The gems are all shaped by the same hand - their faces are all fairly similar, too. Plus, there's the matter of the Amethyst twins... ]
... Is there any other way to think of it? [ a raised eyebrow. ]
Whatever... [ they brush the long flyaway strand of hair that always dangles in front of them from their face, looking off at a wall again. ] I guess it's not a human thing, then. It's just the way all of the people here are.

I DO
I didn't think you were.
[ they probably should just run away and leave her alone, but that might cause some kind of troublesome misunderstanding; Cinnabar steps out from around the corner, maintaining a generous distance between themself and her. ]
What are you doing?

I... needed to get away from the village for a bit. So I started running until my mind cleared up. I didn't think anyone else would be this way...
[ she ends it there a little lamely, but it's not like there's any use in lying. ]

[ very delicate, Cinnabar. ]
Or because the others wouldn't leave you alone?
no subject
...Sol was being a jerk.
[ she may not be versed in being a human but she is still capable of being a petty teen like she appears to be, ]
no subject
[ hmmm. Cinnabar hasn't talked to Sol that much. Still, they don't feel surprised. Both of their overseers seem less than personable to Cinnabar. ]
What did he do?

He... kept avoiding my questions. And saying things like we're the ones responsible for figuring out what happened to Tsurumaru. We just kept yelling at each other, and... I just couldn't take it anymore.

[ a pause ]
I'm... glad someone else understands.

. . .
Do you want me to leave you alone, then? I haven't given you any reason to trust me, after all.
no subject
[ they're the one interrupting her, from their perspective. ]
I don't care. Maybe I don't trust you, but you don't seem dangerous or stupid. Not so far, anyway.
[ this is open to change ]

You were here first, but... thank you for that much. [ she bows her head, and looks like she's about ready to leave, but before she does, ] I'm Xion, by the way.

... Cinnabar.
[ like the crystal!! It feels weird introducing themself still. ]
no subject
It's nice to meet you.
... Maybe one day we can trust each other. [ she places a hand on her chest. it'd be foolish to do so after everything they've both said, after all. ]
no subject
... Are all of you like this?
no subject
[ what makes them different...? other than the obvious. ]
no subject
no subject
I'm not human. I'm a Nobody.
no subject
Oh... Like the girl in the white dress.
[ they study Xion for a few moments. ]
So you're another "descendant" of the humans. Like me.
no subject
I never really considered it that way before... but that does kind of make sense. All Nobodies like me and Naminé come from humans.
no subject
... Is there any other way to think of it? [ a raised eyebrow. ]
no subject
The word "descendants" is kind of weird, I guess? But... if we were all based on humans, that kind of description isn't wrong.
